Why religiosity is not enough in workplace ethical decision-making

Substantial literature has investigated the relationship between religiosity and ethical decision-making (the what), while lesser consideration been given to exploring why decisions are made. As part of a larger study, this paper aims delve beyond descriptive Muslim employees in Malaysia. We analyse qualitative data received from 160 by using thematic analysis. Our results reveal that, religious values important for Muslims Malaysia, there other factors that also pertinent when making at work, namely organization’s interest context decision. found individuals’ reasoning based on Islamic teachings is embedded rules regulations, which suggests lower levels reasoning. This study extends current understanding processes highly contexts individuals their workplace. Implications suggestions future research discussed.
